Terrace diningLoungeTerrace

Located in the heart of the ancient medina of Fez, DAR 47 is a stylish retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city. Whilst retaining its traditional features, the house has been tastefully furnished and fitted with modern luxuries to ensure a relaxing and comfortable stay.

DAR 47 has two spacious ensuite bedrooms on the 1st floor (one of which has a built-in fireplace) which are perfect for two couples travelling together or a family. There are a further three bedrooms, with access to a shared shower room, should you be travelling in a larger group.

Relax on sun loungers on the front terrace and enjoy magnificent views of the medina. There's even an outdoor rainforest shower to cool off. The side terrace, adjoining the rooftop kitchen, is the perfect place for al fresco dining and features a huge built-in barbeque. There is a separate kitchen off the courtyard, and a spacious salon with comfortable seating, dining table, and fireplace for those cooler evenings. The salon has a TV, DVD player (with a large range of English language films) and a selection of board games.

Guests will be met on arrival at the nearest parking (just 2 minutes from DAR 47) and escorted to the house. Airport transfers can be arranged (approx. €12 for a car one-way). We do not currently have any recommendations from this riad, however, there are many fantastic places to eat in Morocco.

Marrakech: We have a list of our favourites in Marrakech see here http://www.hipmarrakech.com/restaurant-guide.php

Essaouira: We are currently updating the list of local restaurants for each region.

For now in Essaouira look at the following.

  • Elizir: Rue de Agadir. The best place in town, not far from the main street. The entrance resembles a classy junkshop. The entire restaurant is decorated beautifully, a really uniqueplace. Oriental classics with an Italian flavour. The service is excellent. Doors open at 8pm and there may be queues.

  • Triskala Café: Rue Touahen. The décor; 60s furniture on the wall, multicolour lighting. Definitely not the type of place you would expect to find in Essaouira. The food is a mix of French and Moroccan. Rated no.2 on Tripadvisor.

  • Restaurant El-Minzah: You can eat outside on the terrace of this popular restaurant which faces the ramparts. The menu features a good selection of international dishes with a good selection of fish.

  • Restaurant Ferdaouss: Rue Abd Essalam Labadi. The food is unfussy and excellent. A delightful restaurant, that serves traditional Moroccan food, with an innovative take on traditional recipes.

The Atlas Mountains: You cannot go wrong by visiting the following:
