Five En-suite Guest Rooms

Ideally located in the heart if the medina, just a few minutes walk away from Marrakech’s main attractions, Riad el Zohar is the perfect base to get to know Marrakech. Despite this central location, this traditional riad is set in a very quiet district and remains a haven of peace and tranquillity.

The main courtyard is dominated by the 7-metre plunge pool, which is essential on hot Moroccan days, which sits alongside a large dining patio area and a dining salon. On the first floor there is a formal salon with a 250-year-old original hand painted red cedar ceiling.

On the roof is a substantial terrace with several quiet corners to relax, take breakfast, or dine. There is a large comfortable tent where you can relax all day or romantically dine on a warm evening. On the sun terrace you can sunbathe on loungers or relax on sofas in the shade of a smaller tent overlooking the Medina rooftops to the Koutobia Mosque and the snow capped High Atlas mountains. Indeed, this is one of the best views of any riad in Marrakech and it is a delight to see the illuminated Koutobia Mosque in the evenings.

The en-suite bedrooms, which are arranged around the central courtyard, are all furbished to the same high standard featuring traditional Tadelakt polished plaster. The bedrooms all have air conditioning, which cools in summer and reverses to heat in winter.

Complimentary tea and coffee are served all day and the price of the rooms includes all payable taxes. WiFi is free and available throughout the riad. Guests are supplied with maps and copious advice and information to enhance their visit to Marrakech.

Please Note - no children under 8 yrs, unless the whole riad is hired by a family or group.

Base prices are in £Sterling: Euro, USD and Moroccan dirham rates will vary by exchange rate.

Cookery Lessons

Riad el Zohar offers cookery lessons with one of their two excellent Cooks. These are informal, fun mornings starting with a shopping trip to buy spices, vegetables and chicken, meat or fish. On returning to the riad there is a hands on practical lesson to prepare a two course dinner, starters and main course, complete with printed recipes. The objective is to show guests how to prepare a meal to entertain their guests. This is good Moroccan home cooking.

"A quick note to thank you and your staff for the wonderful experience we had at El Zohar Touria and the rest of the staff, including the drivers and Larbi made it special, with their kindness, attention to detail and warm welcoming. We will remember especially their smiles! Thank you also for arranging the dinner, it was sincerely the best we had during the trip!"

Carla and Joe

"Everyone wants to come back!!  We cannot thank you all enough for your kindness and thoughtfulness.  We would not have had such an amazing time if it was not for you all.  From the moment we were met at the airport until we followed the carts full of luggage away from the Riad everything had been incredible.  We shall never forget the calm and beauty of the Riad, the incredible and delicious food, and our gala evening was truly memorable."

Sally and Malcolm

"I'd just like to say thank you once again to you and the rest of the team for making our holiday such a memorable occasion. It was more like staying with old friends than being in a hotel. I've still a few things to see in Marrakech, plus I'd love to visit the desert and Essaouira, so you may well see us back in the future."

Rose and Bob

"this is to say  A MASSIVE thank you to you – Touria – and ALL the team at el Zohar – we had an absolutely BRILLIANT time with you – and I am SO GLAD to say Martyn is now a ‘Marrakech convert’ – and would come back any time so I hope we would be welcome!!"

Jacqui and Martyn

"The free Hipmarrakech App has proved amazing for our clients. It gives them confidence to navigate the medina knowing they can always find their way back our house, even with NO data roaming switched on. Further it locates many restaurants in Marrakech that our guests like (some of which give discounts to those with the App), and then helps them find their way back to the riad easily. Further, they can also book excursions in or around Marrakech at short notice."

The Owner of Hip Marrakech

The location is right in the very centre of the Medina so all the main attractions are only a few minutes walk away, a perfect base for getting to know Marrakech. Jemna El Fna Square is five minutes walk and the centre of the Souk is just two minutes walk from the front door. Despite the central location it is a very quiet district and once back in the riad peace reigns. Guests are supplied with maps and copious advice & information to enhance their visit to Marrakech.
