Riad Fawakay (meaning "house of fruit" in Moroccan Arabic), is an elegant, traditional Moroccan haven, within the ancient walled city of Marrakech. A plain wooden door welcomes you into a tranquil and cool oasis of calm, far removed from the frantic activity of the souks, just 2 minutes walk away.
It is located in one of the oldest quarters of the Medina, only 10 minutes walk from Jemaa el Fna and close to the Ben Youssef Medersa. It has been lovingly restored by its British owners, Dawn and Francis Boys-Stones, who fell in love with Marrakech, and left London in 2005, to live permanently in this magical city. We hope that you find our house and Marrakech as enchanting and captivating as we do.
Facilities: Fresh fruit is available every day, and there is also a fully stocked fridge with wines, beers and soft drinks available. Bottled still water is free of charge, and other drinks are charged at the end of your stay.
Living areas: A delightful sunny bhou in the courtyard is a wonderful place to linger over breakfast, or maybe on the open first-floor gallery over-looking the plunge pool and fountain. There is also an airy grand salon with a Juliet balcony, open fireplace, and dining space for cosy winter evenings. WiFi access, satellite TV, DVD player (with a large range of English language films), toys and games are here too, should you need them!
On the terraces, there is a shaded pergola with views of the Medina rooftops, and a traditional Berber tent on plump kilim cushions. Lunch and dinner are available on request and made from fresh local produce.

"With respect to Riad Fawakay I cannot praise it and its staff enough. The riad was nearly newly refurbished and had been extremely tastefully done up. The photos are impressive but do not lie - in fact the photos don't really let you grasp how large the bedrooms are as although the beds are a tight fit the rooms are very long. The staff at the Riad were exceptional - a great cook and really helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and lots of free history lessons along the way. They even got us an English speaking driver for our trips out so that we could be told about the route."
