"Humble trekking style lodge with a friendly welcoming community atmosphere"
Dar Adrar is a small and comfortable guest house in a serene mountain setting in the Toubkal National Park. It is owned by a Berber Mountain guide who has lived for several years on the heart of the high Atlas Mountains of Morocco and runs a trekking company as a sister to Dar Adrar. This company is very well run and offers fantastic intimate tours making Dar Adrar a perfect location for exploring the surrounding Toubkal National Park among humble, simple and friendly surroundings.
The large roof terrace at Dar Adrar offers some of the best views of Imlil in the region and is positioned up the mountain so that the twinkling night sky is uninterupted by any village lighting making a truely breathtaking romantic stargazing evening.
Meals are served on the terrace mostly and are very nicely presented in a simple homely style available for lunch and evening meals onto of breakfast.
Dar Adrar features ten colourful Berber-style bedrooms. Five bedrooms have grand views over the valley and ensuite bathrooms. There are also 2 standard rooms with shared facilities. "A great place to stay if you want a base for trekking or just a few days chilling in the sun. We stayed for 2 nights: one at the start of the trek and one at the end. We arrived very late but an evening meal was prepared and nothing was too much trouble. The weather was glorious on the second day so breakfast was served on the patio. Temperatures at night were low but they provided a heater for the room and there was a roaring fire in the salon where dinner was served. A great value traditional guest house."

"Before travelling I arranged as advertised through their website an airport pickup with Mohammed. He was very easy to deal with to make these arrangements and I was very pleased that it was so seamless. On our arrival into the airport our driver was waiting as arranged, and we embarked on our drive into Imlil, approximately an hour into the mountains through some steep and windy roads. When we reached Imlil we were met by staff (outside Mohammed's Mountaineering shop) who had a donkey waiting to carry our backpacks up the steep footpath to reach the Dar Adrar Guesthouse which is not accessible by road, it was great! A real insight to what the trips was going to be like walking up the winding path. Up at the house (albeit slightly breathless!) we were warmly welcomed and taken for some mint tea on the roof overlooking the valleys and mountains....wow! The view from that height includes waterfalls, mountains and at night a great view of a blanket of stars.
In my opinion Dar Adrar is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a warm, comfortable and friendly base for exploring some of the atlas mountains on foot. Our room was spacious with a large double bed, two windows with views of the valley, a log burner (which was lit by the staff every night) and a spacious bathroom with bath and shower (water was hot) which was adjacent to a comfortable lounge where breakfast and evening meals were served as well. After full days of hiking up and down the mountains, we opted for eating in at Dar Adrar every evening as the food was such a hit after the first night it made sense to conserve energy by not venturing into Imlil. Eating in we had hot, steaming tagines, soups, couscous and (my favourite) meatballs! All very tasty and popular with all the guests."
