"Humble countryside luxury in a serene atmosphere"

La Bergerie is located in an impressive valley set in glorious mountain scenery, just outside the beautiful Berber village of Ouirgane, only one hour drive south of Marrakech, 10 km passing the village of Asni.

It is set off the Tizin'test pass road in grounds of 12 acres with panoramic views of the High Atlas mountains, ideal for nature lovers or anyone wishing to escape and unwind in the simple tranquillity of the Moroccan countryside.

Standard rooms are all situated around a central courtyard in the first building of La Bergerie. The rooms are spacious, and each has its own private garden terrace with outstanding views of the surrounding countryside, and ensuite shower room.

The 16 comfortable rooms are decorated in a rustic style, using authentic materials and skills, with whitewashed walls, wooden ceilings and open fireplaces or wood stoves.

New additions to the property are 3 family suites which are situated by the pool. As the auberge has been built with traditional Moroccan materials, the fact that the rooms do not have air-conditioning is not such a problem, as the rooms are naturally cool in summer. In winter the rooms are heated by open wood fires or wood stoves.

The wonderful swimming pool and terrace provide an ideal spot to relax and admire the panoramic views, or to enjoy the excellent food.

Languages spoken: English and French.

"After staying in so many hotels that might be in any country, it was a great treat to visit La Bergerie, where I had no doubt that I was in a foreign country. It is a single story building and the accommodation is in converted buildings in the grounds: my room was one of six arranged around a courtyard of orange trees and was furnished in Moroccan style, it was some distance from the restaurant, being November it was dark in the evening, but there is some lighting on the paths and torches are provided. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the salads and tagines are delicious."

Thurio from Brighton, November 2012

"Stayed end of May 2012. Was hot at this time. A really peaceful and relaxing hotel . Lovely pool area. Bedding was crisp and spotless and the rooms were very clean, no air con but the ceiling fans worked well, although a little noisy. The rooms could do with a little bit of a makeover but I think "shabby chic" gives them the right title. Had our own little courtyard through french windows - very tranquil. The food is very good and the bar area is relaxing and cool with good beers and wines. I stayed only one night after long trek in the mountains but I will be booking for a week next May. Really loved this hotel. !!"

Mrs N from Staffordshire, June 2012

"We stayed at La Bergerie for 4 nights in the second week of June 2012 (last week). The place was ideal for a relaxing few days away from the hustle and bussle of Marrakech, the staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us and if we did not want the limited menu provided (which worked fine for us) then we were encouraged to ask for something different (with a few hours notice)."

C Joleary from Saudi Arabia, June 2012

Located 10 minutes drive to the small Berber village of Ouirgane with a weekly market where locals from surrounding areas come for all their supplies creating a wonderful vibrant atmosphere. Accessed along some wonderful winding mountain roads and in-between local Berber farmland.

Standard room

The original auberge, has 8 standard rooms surrounding a leafy patio garden, and 2 more at the front. These last 2 bear a touch of the Flintstones, with their knobbly stone walls! The 8 courtyard rooms have a kind of simple Med chic, with the same bright colour schemes set against white walls. Most have French doors to a small private terrace; three also have a cushioned stone ledge as an indoor sitting area. Bathrooms are basic, with curtained shower.

Garden Bungalow

The garden suites are stone and pisé-built bungalows spread around the gardens, with plenty of space for a couple, or family. They're open-plan, with a double bed at one end and a good-sized sitting area at the other: L- or U-shaped sofas which can be made up as beds for 1 or 2 children. The look is colourful and very rustic. Whitewashed walls are offset by bright fabrics and coloured rugs on honeycomb-tiled floors; overhead, you'll find chunky wooden beams framing the ceiling and wall-posts, and a roaring log stove in winter. The bathroom has a walled-off shower compartment and twin basins. Outside is a pretty terrace with wrought-iron furniture.
