Skoura: This charming little hotel (owned and managed by Caroline Lecomte) is located about 1.5 miles off the main road, set in the palm groves near the village of Skoura that stretch toward the High Atlas Mountains and in an area of fascinating inhabited and abandoned kasbahs.

An ideal setting to meditate in peace, stroll amongst the palm groves and explore a bygone region and its forgotten villages in the foothills of the High Atlas Mountains.

Les Jardins de Skoura has eight rooms or suites set in colourful gardens with vines, olive, apricot, pomegranite and fig trees. Each room / suite is decorated in traditional style with warm colours each with its own shower and w.c. All rooms have heating for the chilly winter nights.

Approached via a dried up river bed this hotels sits in a stunning palm grove which is truly magical at sunset. The wildlife, especially the birds are a delight. This is a dependable favourite on hip itineraries.

For now in Essaouira look at the following.

Elizir: Rue de Agadir. The best place in town, not far from the main street. The entrance resembles a classy junkshop. The entire restaurant is decorated beautifully, a really uniqueplace. Oriental classics with an Italian flavour. The service is excellent. Doors open at 8pm and there may be queues.
Triskala Caf�: Rue Touahen.The d�cor; 60s furniture on the wall, multicolour lighting. Definitely not the type of place you would expect to find in Essaouira. The food is a mix of French and Moroccan. Rated no.2 on Tripadvisor.
Restaurant El-Minzah: You can eat outside on the terrace of this popular restaurant which faces the ramparts. The menu features a good selection of international dishes with a good selection of fish.
Restaurant Ferdaouss: Rue Abd Essalam Labadi. The food is unfussy and excellent. A delightful restaurant, that serves traditional Moroccan food, with an innovative take on traditional recipes.
