The Kasbah Bab Ourika has a total of fifteen rooms and suites. Recently (2011) it was awarded the Fodders Top one hundred hotels of the World, which is an amazing achievement. Kasbah Bab Ourika is perched majestically on a hilltop at the apex of the Ourika Valley, guarding the gateway to the snow-capped Atlas Mountains, and yet is less than 1 hour from Marrakech's International airport. With 360 degree panoramic views, this innovative new hotel receives warm sunlight all day, ending in spectacular sunsets, and from its unique eyrie-like position offers a birds eye view of the Atlas, traditional Berber villages and the lush river valley below.

The Kasbah has been constructed principally in rammed earth, the traditional Berber building technique. This method ensures environmentally sound insulation which takes away the need for energy intensive appliances such as airconditioning. The Kasbah's hot water supply is heated by solar panels and there is a programme established to generate its own electricity and to assist the community with projects funded by the hotel for the benefit of local schools and villages.

Guests can relax in individually decorated rooms with stunning terraces and views, or by the swimming pool in the Kasbah's magnificent hill top gardens. Eat bio fresh locally sourced food, take advantage of the nearby horticultural and Saffron farms, visit the large Monday Berber market at nearby Tnine Ourika, hike, trek, ski or ride in the scenic mountains, or drive 45 minutes to the heart of the vibrant Marrakech Medina to shop.

Bab Ourika offers the unique Moroccan experience, combining all the pleasures and conveniences of modern life with a truly relaxing and invigorating holiday in the Berber mountains.

"Kasbah Bab Ourika was undoubtedly the highlight of the trip, a superb Villa perched high above the Ourika Valley, run with a gentle informality by Stephen and his partner. The rooms with their wood fires were fantastic and the views both during the day and at night were magical (I've never seen so many stars in the Northern Hemisphere!). The food was also first class."

"My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights prior to a business commitment in Marrakech - it is just simply wonderful, relaxing, all the rooms have wonderful views, the staff always have a smile on their faces and quite obviously keen to make the Kasbah a success since it is so new. The food is delicious and the whole experience is just one of contentment in a very beautiful location only 40 mins from Marrakech. It is also extremely good value for the standard of accommodation and service one gets. Go now before the secret gets out!!!"

"I have just returned from Bab Ourika and it was one of the most stunning places I have stayed in. The surrounding area is a Berber town and a valley but once you reach the Kasbah it is completely different world. The Kasbah itself overlooks the Atlas mountains and the view is the most amazing ever. The property is very well designed - the house itself is stunning and the interior is immaculate. The pool area is great as you lie on the bed overlooking the mountain tops. The room we had (standard) had a fireplace which was lit at night and stunning views over the mountains. The food was really good and quite reasonable. I would highly recommend this Kasbah - it was such a treat and in such a relaxing location."
